Keep Anxiety Away and Enjoy Your Life

Anxiety should not hamper you to live a happy life. Here are some simple advise for the stressed and anxious.

It is normal to be anxious especially when we are in the process of waiting for a result or outcome. But there are times when it threatens to disrupt our functions of daily life. We should stand up and pay attention to these signals as these means that our normal coping mechanism is taking its toll. We should seek help or do some measures to alleviate this discomfort; otherwise it can lead to anxiety disorder.

If you are experiencing changes in your daily routine such as loss of appetite or insatiability as well as uncharacteristic nervousness and emotional instability, maybe you need to step back and look at the situation objectively. If left unattended it may lead to broken friendships and poor work performance which can get you sacked.

There are other things that can affect a person's work as well as social functions such as physical manifestations of anxiety. These are not contrived or fabricated but are truly felt by the person. Among these are muscle aches, fatigue, sleeplessness, stomachache, palpitations and tremors, ringing of the ears, numbness, and can even cause acute attacks of known illnesses such as hives, asthma and allergies. The digestive system may also be affected by having loss of appetite or insatiability, and constipation or diarrhea. Increase consumption of coffee and cigarettes may exacerbate this condition causing further deterioration in work performance.

There are things you can do to deal with anxiety. One of the main causes of anxiety is stress. Removing the stress will take it out. Dealing with stress is much easier so if you feel your stress levels are getting out of proportion, you can start de-stressing.

Keep your body healthy, this is one of the most basic step in keeping stress away. Eat a balanced diet, and get adequate rest in the form of sleep. Use weekends and vacations to revitalize your mind and body instead of doing more work. If you can't avoid working, make sure you have enough time to eat and sleep. Spend time with your family and revive old friendships. These are your support groups who rally behind you in your endeavors. Being with old friends can bring you back to the carefree days and make you feel young again.

Find peace of mind in solitude by taking a quiet walk on the beach or go hiking up the mountain. This will supply your brain with much needed oxygen. Or you can go camping or fishing. These quiet times will give you a chance to make an introspective assessment of yourself and get to know yourself better. Learn from these and reset your goals and limitations so you do not spread yourself too thin.

Learn to laugh again. Laughter increases oxygen supply to the body and oxygen boosts brain function. It can also make everything lighter and show you that things are not as bad as it looks. This will help you get a positive disposition and attitude in dealing with people around you.

Most important of all, remember that people work in order to live and not the other way round. If you are not happy with what you are doing despite all efforts, get out of that situation. There are always better things waiting if you believe in yourself and what you can do.
