Vitamin D Removes Depression, Psychological Diseases and Keeps You Healthy

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is found in food, but also can be made in your body after exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun.

Vitamin D not only keeps you healthy but removes your depression. Through one research it has been acknowledged that deficiency of vitamin D among aged people make them feel sad and depressed.

13% of people of age group 65-95 years who stayed alone had more the feeling of sadness because they were suffering from the deficiency of Vitamin D. Among these people there is increase in the feeling of sadness and other psychological diseases.

Reasons of deficiency of vitamin D :-

According to the studies deficiency of vitamin d increases the level of parathyroid serum because of which parathyroid glands become very active and depression increases. This research was made by the researchers of university in Amsterdam.

In these research they tested the parathyroid hormone and vitamin D in blood of 1282 people who were from 65 to 95 years of age. Among these 26 were suffering from major depression and 169 had minor depression. When comparison was made of depressed people with normal it was found that very depressed people had 14% deficiency of vitamin D. Depressed people had 5% and very depressed people had 33% more the level of parathyroid hormone in comparison to normal people.

Remedy

Both low vitamin D levels and high parathyroid hormone levels can be treated by increasing vitamin D or calcium in the diet and boosting exposure to sunlight. Fortified foods are the major dietary sources of vitamin D. Sunscreens with a sun protection factor of 8 or greater will block UV rays that produce vitamin D.
